In April 2009, Amarin announced that a Marketing Authorization Application (MAA) for AMR101 in patients with Huntingtons disease (HD) was accepted for review by the European Medicines Agency (EMEA). Description
In progressive neurodegenerative diseases, it is thought that the functionality and effectiveness of affected neurons decline over time, and ultimately die. Neurons that are experiencing such neuronal dysfunction are often described as “suffering neurons”. The mechanism of action of AMR101 is believed to involve (1) replenishment of the lipid bi-layer potentially restoring the functions of suffering neurons, (2) reducing the over production of enzymes (PLA2) associated with apoptosis and (3) stabilizing mitochondrial integrity of suffering neurons by acting on specific signal transduction pathways and changing cellular energy metabolism. This may prevent or slow progression from neuronal dysfunction to apoptosis. Preclinical studies have shown that in aging brains, AMR101 demonstrates neuro anti-inflammatory effects, potentially protecting the brain from inflammation, which is often associated with a number of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinsons and HD. Age-related learning and memory decline in the brain has also been shown to be accompanied by inflammatory changes, typified by microglial activation.

“At first, I really didn’t think it would work; I am used to buying far more expensive name-brand cosmetics. However, this powder is amazing! It delivers just as described and truly conforms to different skin types. The very first day I put it on, I got so many compliments on my skin– people mentioned I looked very well-rested and as if I just came back from a spa. I tried it on my mother and my sister and they fell in love with it as well (even though we all have different skin types). I was also pleasantly surprised that it came in a convenient pouch and a retractable brush. I carry it in my purse everywhere I go out of habit, but it honestly lasts all day so there is rarely a need for touch-ups. I’m ordering one more for myself and two for my sister and my mother! For most ladies, our morning routine includes spending way too much time picking out an outfit, 20 minutes to tame our wild locks, and then 15 more devoted to perfecting the art of make-up.
For local boutique owner Mitzi Thomas, her morning routine revolves around one product that gives her a natural look in less than five minutes.

The “Go Natural” line of cosmetics claims a guaranteed self-adjusting power that is “unique to you and always just right.” The professed “8 cosmetics in 20 seconds” is supposed to work for any skin tone and condition.
Thomas, the owner of Casual Closet, is a die-hard user of the line.
“I am not making a fortune off the line,” Thomas said. “I just believe in it and wanted to share the wonderful product.”
Upon inquiring about the product Thomas turns into a full-fledged spokeswoman. She wears it daily and has since she discovered the product at the Southern Women’s Show five years ago. In fact, Thomas even wore the make-up to her wedding.
“I don’t have time for difficult applications or to worry about blending; ‘Go Natural’ allows me to cover my freckles without liquid makeup,” Thomas states.
“Go Natural” does not stop there. The one-stop compact serves as your concealer, foundation, blush, eye shadow and even your lipstick. It comes with special applicators and boasts a built-in Natural Sun Screen.
Casual Closet carries the six-month supply for $40. Thomas hopes to add the 12-month supply as well, which would retail for $65.
